A thorough visual inspection of the equipment components performed in strict accordance with the manufacturer’s procedures is required. Inspectors look for signs of wear, damage and other deterioration, test for proper engagement and record the findings in a formal inspection log. Equipment identified as defective is brought to the owner's attention so that it can immediately be removed from service. Equipment that passes the test is marked with a date stamp and returned to service. If defects are identified, recommendations are made for further evaluation of conditions that may cause recurrence and require preventive measures to maintain the service life of the equipment. |
